Lego Dimensions Review! :D

I (finally) finished the main Lego Dimensions story! Wow, what a fantastic game. :) As someone who loves toys to life games, in my opinion Lego Dimensions is about on par with Skylanders Imaginators and I like it a lot better than Disney Infinity 2.0 (which is the last Disney Infinity game I played). I'll explain why I think so and I'll start with a brief overview :D

This game throws you into a world of chaos where it is up to three characters (Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle) to save their friends and the world as they know it! You can freely change between these characters (and any other characters you bought by placing them on the portal) by briefly tapping the triangle button (on PS4).

The story unfolds as each of these three characters' friends are kidnapped by "Lord Vortech", the main antagonist in the game. The entire story in comprised of separate "missions", which, of course the story development continues from each mission you play, though with each mission comes a different world you are thrown into. Many of these worlds take place in real-life (well, fake-life :p) movies, TV shows, and games. The ones I had a lot of fun with were the Wizard of Oz level, the Portal level, and the Scooby-Doo level haha!

As you can see, there is a large variety of different genre movies/shows/games that all were released at different times, so I think anyone who plays this will recognize something (other notable levels were Ghostbusters, Doctor Who, Simpsons, and many Back to the Future references throughout the game). There's something for everyone!

I'm glad the games' developers decided to go this route with separate "missions" instead of an on-going story. It allowed players to dive into the worlds of these popular movies and games, as well as keep the attention of kids (which I think is this game's main target-audience) by letting them see and play in new environments and worlds instead of adventuring in the same world throughout the whole story. It keeps things interesting! :)

Gameplay-wise, it wasn't horrible! But it could've been better. The combat felt a little clunky, with a heavy influence toward using melee. I wouldn't mind that too much, expect like I said, melee/hand-to-hand combat felt kinda clunky and also a little boring by just hitting the square button over and over. I think the developers tried to "not" have you button mash every fight by implementing the circle button at certain times to do the special finisher. I would use the circle button more often if it was quicker/killed multiple enemies at once. But no, it's just a more elaborate animation and takes longer to kill multiple enemies. I came across a few environment glitches where the characters would get stuck in different things. Most of them I could get out of, expect for a major glitch early-on in the Simpson's level which I had to restart the checkpoint to get out of.

Speaking of checkpoints, that is probably my least favorite part of the game. You cannot save in this game, the only way you can save is by reaching a checkpoint in the mission you are playing. I'd be fine with this, expect checkpoints are given out very sparingly within each mission. I wish they'd either let you save when you want or generously provide checkpoints. :/

With that said, those are the only things I dislike about this game. And they really aren't that big of a deal, I have easily gotten over them. In my mind, where this game truly shines are the puzzles!

There are multiple puzzles in this game: some simple, some complex. A couple of the missions only focus on puzzles and problem-solving, like the Portal level. And some of the levels were actually pretty hard, at least for me lol!

Anyway, that is my review of Lego Dimensions. I freaking love this game, oh! And I also love how every single add-on and accessory you can buy is compatible with everything else. So the things I bought 5 years ago and the things I buy 5 years from now will all work together, I think that's so cool and awesome!

I hope this helps you decide as to whether you'd like to try this game out, I think it's a good casual game to play where you don't have to worry too much about strategy and such! If you like Skylanders than you will most-likely enjoy this game too!

Thanks for reading! <3

Yesterday I went into Boston for an interview about a volunteer position. It did not go well, I bombed it lol. I don't regret going though, the more interview experience the better! Plus, it was fun going into Boston as well :)

Today I doodled Belle kneeling in grass--I am so looking forward to the live-action Beauty and the Beast movie coming in March 17th! March is bringing a lot of fun and awesome stuff so I am so excited for all of it!!

Thanks for reading!! :D

Today was uneventful and hectic all at the same time. I'm excited and scared about the future, but as long as everyone is good then I will be good too ! :) I of course did my daily doodle today, but won't post it as I didn't take a picture and I feel like I could've done a teensy weensy bit better with it, but whatevs haha! :D I used colored pencils and watercolor markers, I think color-wise everything looks poppin at least!

I only have 1 more level of the main Lego Dimensions story, gosh, kinda bittersweet but also exciting! I definitely took my time with this game, I think I've only put in 12-15ish hours over the course of a few weeks, only playing for about 30 min-1 hour each time I play. I'll probably do a more detailed review when I finish it, but I loved (am loving? Lol) this game. Best part is that there are so many add-ons and other fun stuff to do, the main story is only the tip of the iceberg I guess!

So yeah! Haha I dunno what else to say ;)

Today I doodled Shy Guy and Koopa Troopa. :) I feel like I could have done a better job on Shy Guy overall (shorter body, wider head, etc.) but I tried lol! :D I think Koopa came out pretty good, so I'm happy with it !

It's somewhat mild today at 36F, we've been having a bit of a "heat wave" with somedays going as high as 59F!! It's January! But I feel like we always have a few rogue days like that in the middle of winter. I guess it softens the other days that go as low as 11F. I'm not complaining though haha, I love when it gets nice and mild like that! Spring is my fave season, 50-70F with clear skies is my most favoritest kind of climate, I think because it's so versatile. I can still wear leggings and chunky sweaters if I wanted to, or I can bust out the spring dresses and graphic tees. :) Wow, I'm literally going on about the weather haha! :D

I'll stop now lol, until next time!

Today I received January's issue of Gameinformer! I haven't gotten to read much of it yet but I was so excited to see an Overwatch front and back cover!

Looks pretty awesome doesn't it?! I also played the new Oasis map for the first time today, it's so cool! I still want to play and test it out some more, but first impressions: I really like it!

On another note, Nintendo recently held their Switch Presentation, which was amazing! Although the launch line-up is a little scarce, there are some system-sellers this year that I am so excited to get to play. Specifically Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Super Mario Odyssey!! Oh my gosh, I'm so pumped!

There is so much to come in 2017 games-wise, I can't even begin to scratch the surface in this post. :) But those were some of the cool things I saw this week! It's getting late so I better get ready to go to bed. Eldo says goodnight 💤
